Hardi is a cement based board. Quite heavy and hard to cut, but strong and easy to fix to (eg soap dishes, shower head brackets).

Wedi board might be an alternative - it's made of foam with a thin layer of a mesh cement like material bonded each side. Very light and easy to cut but harder to fix to. May need to let in wood blocks or put noggins in the right place to fix some things to.
