Natedog Full Member Offline Ask The Trades Posts: 343 Total Thanks: 9 For This Post: 0 Swindon United Kingdom	Skirting board Sep 13^th, 2018, 9:35am Hopefully I'll be refitting the skirting boards in the spare room this evening. When I took them off, 2 were tight down against the floor boards and the other 2 had a 1/4" gap under them. Which should I go for? If it makes a difference, the floor is going to be carpeted

However if you have any draughts blowing through the gap they are better fitted tighter to the floor. If in any doubt fit them tight, I always do.
