Re-tile to ridge after installing a Velux?
Feb 10th, 2019, 3:32pm

I've recently installed (for the first time) a Velux window close to the ridge of my loft, but now need to add one close to the lower end of the roof.  Knowing how it's done, I'm guessing I need to remove all tiles above the new opening, right up to the ridge, in order to re-tile from the window upwards?  Can't think of a another way to fix the few removed tiles above the new window without doing so??  I have 300x600 synthetic slate tiles, fixed around half way up each.
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Lee

If you Google "slate roof repair clip" you will find videos showing various methods of fixing slates when you don't have accesss to the fixing holes. It's a common problem when you just need to replace one slate and there should be no need to remove too many slates.

On the sides use individual soakers with a minimum 150mm under each slate and ideally a secret gutter

Should find how too in the book.

When you buy a roof window you need to also buy a flashing kit specifically designed for the type of roofing slate/ tile etc, these come with more or less everything you need to fit the window.
