Mysterious cracks
Jan 1st, 2020, 12:50am

Hi, about 9 months ago, the guy in the flat above left his bath running and it ended up flooding my bathroom which is below his. Since then, I've noticed hairline cracks appearing in a worrying number of wall tiles. What's gotten me even more concerned is that from yesterday to today about 8 noticable scratches have appeared on the top of my tap (waterfall stainless steel tap). I'm starting to worry that my bathroom is somehow being crushed slowly. Is there a reason why cracks would start to appear?
Thank you,
Wayne.

Do these cracks form a line or are they random? If it's random it's possible the leak has run behind the tiles if the wall is dry lined (you can tap it and it will sound hollow) and the plasterboard has lost its integrity. A continuous cracked line would indicate settlement.

As for the tap, has someone got a ring that may have marked it? It's very doubtful that anything else would mark it.
