Is Our Wiring Suitable For A New Induction Cooker?
May 26th, 2021, 7:14pm

Hi, we would like to purchase a freestanding AEG CIS6741ECM Induction Cooker. AEG and Curries offer installation services but neither will advise us (pre-purchase) whether or not our wiring is sufficient in terms of 6mm2 cable size, installation run and 20 meter cable length. Hoping you may be able to help with some of the relevant calculations. Uploading pics, including the applicable 2011 wiring certificate.

COOKER SPEC: 11.9Kw, 30a, 6mm2 cable
https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/household-appliances/cooking/cookers/aeg-cis6741ec...

WIRING INSTALLATION: 32a RCB with 20 meter 6mm2 Grey pvc/pvc running in a tight cluster for 1.5m in a pvc box conduit up the ground floor wall, then between ceiling and upper floors hanging free between wooden joists (pic att.) finally running 1.5m down the kitchen wall in metal covered chase to a breaker switch and wall socket. Final 2m length loose to cooker.

I got to 11.9Kw / 230V = 51.74amp and with diversity 22.52 but got lost trying to allow for long cable resistance and trying to figure voltage drop compliance. At this point I realised my calcs were probably rubbish anyway so here I am, seeking your most valued assistance.

Don't mind removing the wall socket outlet but if the installers say we need a cable upgrade, we'll probably cancel the cooker deal. Any advice or assurances you can offer will be most helpful.

Many thanks, ian
