stuck euro cylinder
Sep 14th, 2022, 2:42pm

i'm wanting to change the locks on the house so we've got keyed alike locks with thumbturns on the inside.  the front door is only a few months old, but i can't get the cylinder out.  it's a composite door with a yale doormaster locking system and a standard euro cylinder.  I've removed the screw that retains the cylinder, but it doesn't even make it slightly loose.  the back door which has the same setup on, the lock slid straight out no bother.  Any suggestions?

I assume you have tried turning the key to see if you can move the cam in line with the lock body as you tap the lock very gently on the lock from the inside?  If the lock isn’t armoured then these locks are easy to snap in two. You just need to get hold of the protruding part of the lock with mole grips and twist it side to side and up and down for it to snap through where the screw held it in place, then you should be able to get it out.

Tried turning the key and wiggling the lock, but it was in there solid.  Eventually sussed it this morning.  There's a weird shroud thing around the cylinder with a clamp bolt through it that pinches it together.  Loosen that and it popped straight out.Image 24Image 23

Glad you got it sorted without having to break the lock.
