Title: Worcester Bosch Greenstar boiler problems, help!

I have the greenstar boiler and it keeps turning itself off. If I press reset it comes on, makes a growly noise, sounds like it's filling up with water, then turns itself off.
It's snowing here and I'm so cold it's stupid. Please help me!
Also, I read in the manual that the indicator light flashes different things for different faults, it's flashing once every 2 seconds if that helps??

Also, I'm home alone with my baby daughter, hubby is working away, so I can't ask him. I'm so upset I could cry, why the hell did this have to happen the one day really cant be doing with no heating :(

What does the manual tell you about the light flashing every 2 seconds?
Also, there should be a model number for your particular boiler.

I don't need any replies noow but I think I'd best tell you what's happened in case anyone comes accross this on google and it may help them out. I found this webpage....

So, I went outside and sure enough the lagging on the condenser pipe thingy into the drain was all ripped off. I poured boiling water on the pipe and then folded fleece blankets lengthways and duct taped them around the pipe. Came in, reset the boiler, and I now have hot water and heating.
I'm drinking a celebratory beer whilst running a bath, I think I deserve it!
Super-mummy to the rescue!

Oh, sorry, The Trician, I didnt seee your reply until after I wrote that last comment.

The manual says "if the blue light flashes your boiler has a fault" duh! It says to ring an installer to find out what they mean, but it's 10pm and I have no credit on my phone.

I've fixed it for now, and will send hubby to lag the pipe properly tomorrow, we're supposedly having snow all week, so don't want it freezing again!

Seems to be quite a common problem.

If it happens aggain check the bit on that link about condensate pipes being 32mm diameter if it goes outside. I suspect some installations have pipes that are too small and therefore more prone to freezing even when lagged.

Glad to hear you got it sorted.

My boiler is an old BAXI 105e straight combi, and other than a new pump fitted 8 years ago, and a new diverter valve diaphragm fitted last week, it has given 10 years of good service.

The condensate pipe on my boiler is 15mm copper and I've never had it freeze yet. The boiler is fitted in an unheated and uninsulated outhouse.

These condensing boilers seem more trouble than they are worth.

Scruff......Earlier this year (first snow fall Jan time) i sorted out a friends Condense boiler, and there condensate pipework went to the wall in plastic, and outside went to the drain in 15mm copper.....1.5Metres worth

i thawed it out (well it was 11pm and snowing hard) whipped off the copper and went back next day and ran it in 1" plastic with lagging....

so TT's fitter may have been the same moron they had!!! (loads of leaks in system also....

The condense will eat copper, quite quickly depending how well the boiler works.

I thought the 105e was a non steamer so would not have a condense pipe, are you confusing it with the PRV pipe?
