Title: Welsh dresser Post by Monkeymouse on Jul 6th, 2011, 2:20pm Hi, i bought a welsh dresser and it has just been delivered but the top half and bottom half are completely separate and there is no way of attaching them together. I asked the person who sold it to me and they said that's just the way it is but I can't use it like this as the top half is unstable. How would I go about fixing them together? The dresser is made out of pine (not sure if that's important, sorry I am a bit clueless about this kind of thing) Thank you |
Title: Re: Welsh dresser Post by big_all on Jul 6th, 2011, 3:16pm heeelllooo and welcome monkeyhouse [smiley=wave.gif] [smiley=wave.gif] quite normal to be seperate the back will be perfectly safe once loaded up unless you have a bouncy floor i you are worried about the top falling over a couple off these upside down on the top assuming there is a flat top or an area you can screw too http://www.screwfix.com/p/corner-braces-zinc-plated-51-5-x-51-5-x-16-35mm-pack-of-10/11013 with the top in place mark the wall where the brackets are going place the bracket 5mm above the pencil line so the leg coming out from the wall will clear the top slightly make sure the other leg goes down so its covered by the unit affix to the wall with 2 screws the top will be around 1" from the wall assuming you have skirting stopping going back so just screw through the outer hole if the floor is bouncy then a bit off string with 2" off slack would cause less problems |

Title: Re: Welsh dresser Post by Monkeymouse on Jul 6th, 2011, 10:15pm Thanks so much for your replies, i really apprciate your help. I will follow Joiners instructions for joining the 2 pieces together so thats perfect. Ank you! big_all yours will be great for fixing to thw wall which i will do also. Just to be sure i understand, i should fix the bracket the the wall then attach the top to the bracket, right? Why do i put the bracket 5mm above the top of the dresser? Do i not need to attach the top of the bracket to the top of the dresser? Or have i misunderstood? Sorry for the extra questions, hope you dont mindand thank you? |
