We are renovating our house. New showers/baths etc.

The cold water comes from our treatment plant down in the cellar. Pumped at around 2 Bar...I can alter that. The cold feed feeds the cold water tank in the loft and the cold taps. The cold water tank feeds the hot water tank which then feeds the taps etc in the house. Clearly an imbalance in pressure.

So I bought a whole house Stuart Turner pump (4.5 bar) as it was on offer but now am beginning to think that that was overkill and that all I really need is a pumped feed from the hot water tank at around the same pressure as the pump in the cellar?

Does that make any sense ?

Lots of questions first.

Whats the source of the water ?

More info about the plant. please.

What pump is the existing.?

Can you move the tanks to the plant room to feed the pump and an unvented cylinder?

Bore hole.

What plant specifically? I'm not altering the water treatment system.

That includes the pump that feeds water up into the house.

No. The tanks won't be moved.

Assume you have a pump for the bore hole and some type of pressure vessel. so an unvented cylinder should be easy to install using the same pump/cold supply and would give you a common pressure.

Would need looking at properly.

So the cold water tank is vented making the hot taps are gravity fed).

I think whole house pumps are designed to boost both hot and cold so will you be replacing the existing 2 bar pump with the cold half of the whole house 4.5 bar pump?

The existing pump would be a borehole pump CW

Neither.

The borehole is a red herring...my apologies. It feeds the very large drop tanks from whence the water goes through the purification process and ends up in holding tanks. The pump I referred to then takes the output of those and feeds the cold water tank (exclusively used for the HW cylinder) and the rest of the house.

I have bitten the bullet and ordered a single universal from Stuart & Turner for the hot water.
