Title: OK for a sparky its a stupid question but...
Post by santacruz on Aug 1st, 2005, 8:56pm

I sit hear in our study and next door is the kitchen. Every now and then and at no fixed time and it may only happen once a night I hear the ignition fire on the gas hob.

There is no-one in the kitchen - SWMBO is watching TV in the lounge and I am here typing like there was no tommorow.

Spooks? Leakage? Crap ignitor? I am drunk or what? Any ideas?

Ta chaps - xxxx

NEFF or is it NAFF? cost a lot (as in more than £2.10)- five burner. Just self ignited (as in ignition fired) again for the third time tonight. All a bit odd.

I have a Baumatic five-ring  - sometimes it will do a similar thing if one of the knobs is stuck slightly (intermittent  contact with the ignition circuit) - normally means it needs cleaning  ;D ;D

All I know is it's a flame failure device.

Maybe it can be disconnected or faulty ask the manufacturer

Seen similar but on a 5 year old hob - took the beast apart wiped/cleaned everything with tissue - not happened since - Best of luck

Same thing happened to ours when somebody decided to clean it. Got water in the microswitch on the ignition buttons.

Pull the covers off an squirt in some wd40
