How should one go about setting up a system with multiple heat sources ?

I currently have a standard unpressurised system with a gas boiler.

I will shortly be putting in a solid fuel stove and it occurs to me that I might as well plumb that into the system as well. Then I could stick some solar panels in as well - not thinking geothermal yet though.

So, question is what is the best way to go about combining the different power sources. Should they all power hot water only or hot water and heating.

suggestions please ?

I hate to say it but Gledhill thermal stores are good for what you are trying to achieve

I've read quite a bit - is there any reason that I couldnt get a standard cylinder with an extra element in it ?

I need to think through how the controls would work.

btw do I have to buy a controller that is approved to some standard or can I build one ?

Yep you could use a cylinder with 2 coils, but the solid fuel would need an heat sink.

Stores are relatively simple to install for the diyer, other than that it needs an professional to design and possibly install.

ok so I don't like stores and will not fit them, but they do have a use with multiple fuels
