Title: replacement boiler
Post by ckelly0172 on Dec 6th, 2005, 10:41pm

My combi boiler has finally given the ghost and a new is required. I had a plumber round to give me a quote adn to my surprise he has quoted £2000!!! Is this price the norm?

He did mention that because my present boilers gas intake is 15mm this gas pipe would have to be replaced with 22mm because of new legislation. Is this true? My mate recently bought a ravenheat combi from B&Q and that has 15mm gas intake.
Any advice woudl be grately appreciated.
Cheers
Craig

Unless the combi is sat on the meter then 22mm would be the minimum, add a few bends etc and 28mm

Your engineer will sort it out when he knows what boiler is being fitted

Raveneat nice boilers

Then why would a boiler have a 15mm intake if the min was 22mm?
Confused...

The gas pipe is sized according to length plus the number of bends plus the load.

The last foot or so can be 15mm if the load allows it, your installer will/should size the pipe from the meter.

Ravenheat are the cheap end of the market, price will depend where you are but outside of London £2k seems a tad high
