Title: heating system - vallant Post by senor_j on Sep 5th, 2006, 5:16pm hello folks, back again. I've binned the warm water underfloor system ,time it takes for me to prep. it all etc.i'd rather be out on me bike! so, we've recieved a few prices for renewing boiler, replacing pipe work (plastic under/copper reveal) relocating rads(inc thermostat etc,NOT inc.radiators themselves). best price i've been given, £2600 ,includes a vallant 831 combi. I want to have nice thermo. shower & apparently this will do the job. anyhoo.....does this sound ok to you. i don't feel i'm being robbed( i am a tradesman meself,so don't believe in out for nowt) just want a little reassurance/guidance please. oh,by the way , it's in london village. cheers, J. |

Title: Re: heating system - vallant Post by thescruff on Sep 5th, 2006, 6:39pm The price would be about right for London/areas, whats the parking like Does the price include up-rating the gas pipe, depending on length and number of bends, plus other appliances you could be looking at 28mm for at least part of the run. Does the price include a powerflush, an absolute must. While I'm spending your money ;D get him to price for a "magnaclean", for around the £100.00 mark its worth every penny. Does that price include VAT. The 831 will give you 12.7 L/min, whereas the new 837 will give you 15.2, it may be an idea to upgrade if the price is not much more, especially if you want a decent shower. On that subject get one thats suitable for a combi. Finally check the installer is Corgi registered, and is familiar with Vaillants. |

Title: Re: heating system - vallant Post by senor_j on Sep 5th, 2006, 7:03pm hello , thanks for your reply. parking no problem, he did mention powerflush ,as I was suggesting using existing pipework and wanted it done , he said he would be doing it(powerf.) anyway.....he also advised me that it was just as easy to renew all pipework+ £350 price diff. as far as i am aware there are no plans to uprate gas pipe. off home now . adios. j. |

Title: Re: heating system - vallant Post by thescruff on Sep 5th, 2006, 7:59pm Even if he renews the pipework it will still need a powerflush. Gas pipe size will depend on requirements, and what you have. he will need to calculate that or I can for you if you post the details. length to the boiler, cooker, gas fire etc, and in what order, plus the number of bends/tees required. |
