Title: Lack of hot water Post by Teresa on Oct 13th, 2006, 7:42pm Hi, I have a standard gloworm gas boiler that heats water for both heating and water. The hot water is then stored in a tank. The heating works absolutely fine, but i can't get more than about 5 mins worth of hot water. If I keep the central heating on, I get hot water fine, but not without. I have replaced thermostats, 3 way valves and the electrical contrl panel, all to no avail. Any ideas? |

Title: Re: Lack of hot water Post by thescruff on Oct 16th, 2006, 10:50pm Air or scaling in the primary pipes, would be the first port of call. How old is the pipework and cylinder, and what boiler is it. |

Title: Re: Lack of hot water Post by Teresa on Oct 17th, 2006, 5:06pm Thanks for the reply. The pipes and the boiler are pretty old, but I have them full of fernox, so they shouldn't be too cruddy. I bled the whole system down yesterday and think I may have had a small airlock from when I replaced the 3 way valve. Hot water seems OK today...watch this space. |
