Title: Re: condensing combi system Post by thescruff on Jan 15th, 2007, 10:11pm The Syntesi is discontinude. The Unica/Minute HE is the replacment. http://www.vokera.co.uk for the installation guide. |

Title: Re: condensing combi system Post by thescruff on Jan 15th, 2007, 10:20pm Microbore I wouldn't give it the light of day, as much rubbish now as it's always been, ok so you could install a Magnaclean which would help, in fact fit one anyway, best thing since sliced bread for modern bean cans (boilers) By-pass depends on the system, but is included in the Unica HE. |

Title: Re: condensing combi system Post by david64 on Jan 17th, 2007, 12:57pm Sorry to jump in but I see that you are recommending the Magnaclean: In this instance are you recommending it specifically because of the use of plastic pipes? If so, could you explain why? I'am intrested as at work we are dealing with some iron oxide related issues on a heating system at the moment and I wondered if the product may help. The system we have been working on is plumbed with unbarriered plastic pipes. Unmongst other things the system was converted to a pressurized system as this was supposed to prevent air entering it via the pipe walls but unfortunately some 18months later the problems seem to be re-appearing. The general feeling now is that plastic pipework is going to have to be replaced with copper. Obviously this is going to cost lot of money so I just wondered if the Magnaclean might be of benefit here. |

Title: Re: condensing combi system Post by thescruff on Jan 17th, 2007, 7:43pm I didn't reccommend the magnaclean becuse of the plastic but because they are good on any system. To answer your question they would clean the system but not stop the problem. I assume by your post you are suffering from pinhole corrosion. Has the system been filled with Fernox inhibitor, where is the system (area) and the size of. If you have a sparky person hanging around get him to stick a clamp meter on all the pipes, Gas, Water, Rad tails and the main earth wire. He would be looking for low amps, typically 20-45, No Volts, and post the results. |
