Guys

Im interesting in having a go at making a fitted wardrobe..noting huge! max double door!

Been doing a fair bit of reading etc..and also have an existing one in another room which was fitted few years back by the so called "rip off experts!"

Are there any other guides \ how to \ tips on this?

Sorry....i mean in terms of layout, best practices etc?....I dont just want to copy what I have as I may be just redoing work that may not be the best way to do it...

Just thought if there was a kind of "how to" guide

if you mean in terms of layout of the doors, shelving, hanging rails etc, that is all down to your own requirements!!

just made/fitted some that due to being made at 8 feet high, i could get away with a small top shelf, 2 hanging rails and a shoe rack on the bottom..

if your planning fitted type wardrobes with flush doors and invisible hinges you will be better to desighn without a visible frame as such

if you have a shelve with a hanging rail underneath the shelve will have to be extremly stong to support all but the shortest rail if its 15mm laminate
i wouldnt idealy not exceede 2ft unsuported on a rail and would want a partition if its laminate at the 2ft mark
or a central supporting bracket if its a solid framework to attach to
you can of course add a second supporting bracket if its over 4ft span

I was planning it to be a 2 door wardrobe with the sliding mirror door mechanism.

The actually shelving inside was going to be using the veneered beech effect material with battons as supports fixed to the wall and the shelf top........

Hi Guys

These are my current drobes!

Can any of you see anything wrong with them?..I mean internals

The draws (last pic) were first stuck to the walls but we taken them down so Obv with no back they shake like a bitch...so I need to get some thick material to fix it in place

the use of KD (knock down) blocks alone to build does not make for a rigid structure at all!

not 100% shure what the question refers to ;D ;)

are you asking if we can see anything wrong !!!

or whether it can be designed better!!

or just general comments using the present wardrobe as a plan to work to!!!!!

Lol...Im getting good at this "dont ask what Im after" lark lol

Thats what we have now and what was made before we moved into my house.

My plan is to make another two dorr sliding and I am kind of working off this one.....BUT I dont want to screw it up if theres things obv wrong with this one?

My immediate though on the current one was why there werent battens around the whole shelf?...or am I wrong?

i have been trying to rack my poor brain cell (well it is friday! [smiley=confused.gif]) about why i could not fully understand what i was looking at, beds in cupboards etc, till i blew up some of the pccies and found they were/are MIRROR IMAGES of the remaining bedroom!!!! [smiley=duh.gif] [smiley=duh.gif] [smiley=duh.gif] [smiley=duh.gif]

right will let you know when i have got a full in my minds eye piccy! ok!

Right my questions are as follows then

1) are you using the full width of the room concerned for the wardrobe!

2) are you re-using what is in the piccies for materials!

3) how much depth is available, BEHIND the mirror door tracks that is !

4) do you want to batten the shelves, or hidden fixings, or better still NOT TO BOTHERED as the will not be on show!

5) depending upon the answer to question 1, what overall sizes are we looking at, i.e: width of both mirror doors in situ, and height o/a

Nope..open to purchase new material

not bothered, but want it to look decent enough when open

Too true! But even a 4mm MDF back pinned and glued to the back of such a structure will increase it's rigidity immensely
