Hi,
Quick question about safe zones for wiring; I want to move a couple of sockets, but it seems from doing a bit of research that I can't run the cable behind the skirting as I had originally planned, which causes a few issues as we're getting the room replastered on Monday! I plan to put the new sockets at a height of about 12inches above the floor - the same height the 'feeder' socket is, so am I right in thinking that the wire needs to run around the room along a line this height? And if so, can I chisel out the run, put in coduit and 2.5mm cable before we get the walls plastered, and then fit the sockets after I've had an electrician look at it?
Any advice would be appreciated, I'm on a pretty tight schedule, so need to know if any of this is even feasible!

Yes you can
How many sockets? It would be best to extend the ring.

There are three sockets in the room, two doubles next to each other where there used to be a gap in the fitted wardrobe, and one on the wall opposite. Of the two together I'm guessing one has been taken off the first, and as they're close by it should be relatively simple to take the wiring back to the first socket and replace with a longer piece... but haven't had chance to check, and we all know things are never simple! The other socket I think I'll blank off and take a spur round to the adjoining wall. What's the protocol with taking a wire round an internal corner? Just the same as a flat wall?

And lastly, am I right to think that if I were to take a cable out of a safe zone it would have to be adequately protected with some form of metal cladding?

Thanks, just trying to save costs as much as possible without sacrificing safety, so the more manual labour i can do myself the better.

Yes as you can see in the above diagram the safe zones join via the corner zone,

Its best to use the safe zones!
but if you can't you need to protect the cable,
an earthed bit of metal condiut is probably easiest tho there are other ways.
