Hi,
New here and need some help for my girlfriend. She lives in a rented flat and doesn't have a TV point in her bedroom so I am looking for alternatives? Ideas welcome please.

We believe the normal tv line has been cut, because they just have always had sky. but without getting mutli room what other avenues could there be?

All ideas welcome just want to have Freeview in the bedroom thanks

Hi, welcome to the forum.

there is not enough info really.

Is there a cable or point in the bedroom? Where does this cable run from? What is there in the lounge at the moment?

If it is indeed a point installed for sky multiroom (that is if it's a feed from the LNB) you should be able to stick a freesat box or an old sky box (either with no card or for a few extra bits and peices and easier access to channel 4, a "freesat from sky" card) on it and get most of the free channels.

FreeSat is a good option - especially if she wants HD.

Otherwise.. If it's a Sky multipoint (eg a second drop from the LNB) and she doesn't want sky then how about this...

Disconnect the two drop leads at the dish/LNB and connect them together with an F to F adaptor. Seal well!! She will now have a wire that goes from the living room sky point to the bedroom sky point. This can be used to route the signal from her Freeview aerial socket in the living room to the bedroom - where she installs a second freeview box.

If Freeview recieption is weak she may need a distribution amplifier rather than a passive splitter or Y adaptor in the living room.

If that still gives poor recieption then bite the bullet and get the place properly rewired...For example a decent freeview aerial with mast head amp that has two outputs and two new wires to the TV points.
