High level 140 cm squared required'
Once this work is completed re schedule..
DO NOT USE BOILER!!!
There is a vent there 200X125 by a make of  'stadium'
2 floor vents and double doors are 50mm up from carpet.

Which size?

Perhaps see "COMBUSTION AIR AND VENTILATION REQUIREMENTS" in here....

http://www.partsarena.co.uk/baxi/System/DATA/Dx/DS1/installation/2547/I23-2547/I23-2547.htm

I'm NOT a gas fitter so wait for someone who is to reply.

b. The CF125 and CF150 may be installed in a purpose designed or modified compartment.

There should be two permanent air vents, one at low level and one at high level, both communicating either directly with outside air or indirectly with a room or internal space which is suitably ventilated (See a.). Each vent must have a minimum free area in accordance with the following table:

A vent 20 x 15 has an area of 250cm^2 less any grill. That appears to be a lot less than the 440 or 528cm^2 specified in the table for the high level vent.

Ventilation requirements have been upgraded CW, the engineer would be near enough not to argue with..

Then again if the flag is anything to go on they have different regs to us.

Ask him what the requirements are and you can work it out, or buy a new boiler and save some money long term.

Thanks all,
I fitted a 9" x 9" vent giving 207cm squared.
More a bit miffed at turning the boiler off and leaving a sticker with do not use .
I did/do check to see if my boiler comes under the scrapage scheme but no,i.ll continue to have it regulary serviced.
cheers

The alternative, had you refused to let him turn it off, was to phone Transco and they would pop round and cap the supply.  ;D

They can do anything if they have the inclination.

This is a typical BG post.

What I want to know is this..

Presumably he had to open or remove the cupboard door to service the boiler. Couldn't he have just left the door off until someone put a vent in it?
