Hello, I replaced the cartridge in my shower handle rough-in valve, because no water was coming out of the faucet and the rubber on the cartridge had decayed. I installed the new cartridge and put the handle back on. However, the handle now no longer sits flush with the face plate, it cannot reach it by about 3/4" of an inch. Essentially, it needs to slide on 3/4" farther. I think that when I pulled out the old cartridge I bent the pipes, because I had to use a lot of pressure to get it out, due to the rubber debris. Is there a good way to fix this? I have tried to bend the pipe back, but needed to use a lot of force and I didn't want to do more damage. Thanks!

i wouldnt force it back for fear of breaking the pipe and flooding the place . had a similar problem myself once , in that case i removed the shower mixer and a few tiles and dropped 2 new pipes in from the attic. you could just cut the bent piece off and join on to it if thats easier , it just means more joints in the wall . and when re-fitting the valve make sure its well secured to some decent grounds so this dsnt happen again
