Title: Re: belling cooker 335 Post by CWatters on Aug 16th, 2011, 7:54pm Perhaps faulty thermostat? When it was working did the light normally go on and off as the thermostat kicks in and out? |

Title: Re: belling cooker 335 Post by p haughton on Aug 17th, 2011, 8:42am thanks CWATTERS. I should have said that there is a wire hanging down fromthe hob. I did not disconnect it from anyhere; assumed that is how its always been. Also, the ring at rear of hob not working. Yes, that light was nomally showing previously |

Title: Re: belling cooker 335 Post by CWatters on Aug 17th, 2011, 10:02am Only way to fault find this sort of thing is to disconnect the supply, and strip it down enough to follow the path electricity takes around the system. If there is no obvious visible fault (like a disconnected wire) then get your multi meter out to check for continuity and figure out where the problem is. Elements, thermostats and switches all prone to failures to some degree. |

Title: Re: belling cooker 335 Post by p haughton on Aug 17th, 2011, 10:39am tthanks for that . A wiring diagram would help if I had one. I have spent my working life in electronics so I suppose that I should be able to work it out. But I am concerned about this loose wire. By the way, this cooker belongs to my daughter about 5 miles away which is not very conveient |

Title: Re: belling cooker 335 Post by CWatters on Aug 17th, 2011, 4:50pm Google found this thread which suggests the ring and oven faults might be related... http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=267630 and also this post.. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belling-WHITE-electric-cooker-separate/dp/B0000C789V Quote:
That sounds like a faulty thermostat trips a thermal fuse. |
