Title: Do we need to remove an incorrect cable Post by scuba on Apr 13th, 2013, 10:33am Good morning, We have an older house and discovered an unused spur socket that is sporting we think a 1,5mm connection to the 32A ring. Our guess is this should be 2,5mm instead. We dont care about this spur so can we just terminate this cable and blank off the socket or does the cable have to be removed in it's entirety - problem of course is that we dont know where it ends?! |

Title: Re: Do we need to remove an incorrect cable Post by Lectrician on Apr 13th, 2013, 12:03pm It should really be removed in its entirety, but blanking off is a safe option. |

When you say blank off, do you mean fit a blanking plate? |

Title: Re: Do we need to remove an incorrect cable Post by scuba on Apr 14th, 2013, 3:08pm We were thinking of either a blanking plate or simply terminate with some form of permanent connection and pushing back into the wall and plastering over?! so it cant be used inadvertently in the future. Which would you advise? |

Blanking plate, you can't bury it in the wall. |
