Title: Oven / Hob circuit Post by MF79MARK on Jul 7th, 2013, 11:35am Hi I wonder if anyone can help me. I have removed my electric shower, it was on its own circuit. Im now redoing my kitchen and I understand that the oven / hob need to be on its own circuit could i use the old shower circuit. Any ideas? Thanks |

Title: Re: Oven / Hob circuit Post by Lectrician on Jul 7th, 2013, 11:40am Yes, but you should check to make sure your oven/hob (if separate) do not require their own circuits due to their size (unlikely). You should have RCD protection for the circuit if it is going to supply a socket outlet on the cooker panel insolator, or if the cable is buried in the wall anywhere. |

Title: Re: Oven / Hob circuit Post by MF79MARK on Jul 7th, 2013, 8:15pm Hi I just checked my fuse box, my current oven and extractor is on circuit on its own - a 30amp fuse wire, am i ok to wire a hob in to the same circuit? Thanks |

Title: Re: Oven / Hob circuit Post by Lectrician on Jul 7th, 2013, 10:44pm It depends on the sizes of the hob and oven. 30amps is 6.9kw. If your oven and hob combined fall below this, then yes. If they don't, you can apply some diversity to see if it then does. Take the first 10amps and add 30% of the remainder, plus 5amps if a socket is incorporated into the contol panel isolator. Generally, if you just have a single oven and 4 hob plates, it will be fine. Anything larger (6 hobs, double oven etc), you would need to calculate to be sure. |
