Title: Bathroom Power Problem - Any guidance please Post by English Desi on Mar 10th, 2014, 5:53pm Hello, I would be grateful if someone could help me. My tenant last week plugged in her hair straighteners into the shaving socket of the bathroom mirror. This caused some kind of power surge and power was restored by resetting the circuit. She advised this weekend that the bathroom light is working but the lights in the mirror and the socket and light in the bathroom cupboard no longer work. I have called out an electrician and just wanted a suggestion on what could be wrong. I have attached a picture of the mirror unit when it was working. Any help would be appreciated |

Title: Re: Bathroom Power Problem - Any guidance please Post by woodsmith on Mar 19th, 2014, 11:30am The bathroom cabinet electrics may well run off a fused spur from the ring main. Look for an electrical plate with a small rectangular section which pulls out revealing the fuse which would need replacing. However that may not cure the situation as plugging an appliance into a shaver socket may well have damaged the transformer in the shaver socket. |
