Title: Bathroom floor repair
Post by TrevorP on Mar 16th, 2016, 12:30pm

Just a quick question...just removed a toilet pan from downstairs toilet,  which dates from 70s, and with it came a chunk of black material, same size as pan. It seems that the floor is concrete base with about 30mm of this black coarse material on top.
I need to fill this 30mm pan size piece, but what do I use, was thinking 4-1 sharp sand and cement mix., but not sure, any advise?
Cheers Trev

This sounds like solid bitumen and would have been used as the damp proof course over the concrete. I would thoroughly seal the hole with a bitumen damp proof liquid before filling it.
