Title: Laminate Flooring Again! Post by Windy Miller on May 28th, 2004, 8:56pm Hi Guys Following on from the recent(ish) topic re Laminate Flooring (http://novoserve.no-ip.biz/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=DiyC;action=display;num=1081786354;start=0), another question... Bearing in mind that the laminate should be laid in the hallway at right angles to the door (so as to give an impression of increased length and also to avoid the light source falling across the joins), what happens when the laminate is to be continued into a room at the end of the hallway? Do I ignore the above 'rules' and lay the flooring in the same direction as before (without a threshold strip)?, or do I fit a strip and start again at right angles to the flooring in the hall? Cheers for any advice. Windy |
Title: Re: Laminate Flooring Again! Post by big_all on May 28th, 2004, 10:10pm although it looks better to continue into other rooms two things to keep in mind depending on length of hall you need an expansion gap of aprroximatley 6mm every 12 foot or so[under door strip ideal] and if walls are only a few degrees out what looks good in the hall may be slightly diagonal in the room thus not running paralell hope this helps |

Are you saying that it's OK to lay the laminate at right angles, or that I should fit the strip and continue in the same direction, but ensure that the joins are still runing parallel? Windy |
