Title: NEW ROUTER Post by KILLABEE on Jun 2nd, 2004, 1:50pm Hi Guys Looking to invest in a new router. Which one is the bes one to get a 1/4' or 1/2'. Had a look at one by Silverline Tools. http://www.silverlinetools.co.uk/ Has anyone bought this router or had any experience with SIlverline. Their stuff seems to be excellent value and they are appqrently guaranteed forever. Thanks |
Title: Re: NEW ROUTER Post by KILLABEE on Jun 2nd, 2004, 1:57pm Sorry I can't seem to get a direct link to the router. Instead on clicking the above link it takes you to the home page. Click on the 'POWER TOOLS' on the left and then on 'HI-SPEC POWER TOOLS. This takes you to the page with the router. Cheers |

You may need both - seriously. You need a smaller router for the fancy stuff, and a larger router for the heavy duty stuff. The half-inch is typically seen to be the tool for kitchen fitters who need to chomp bits out of kitchen worktops and doors etc. The quarter-inch tends to be useful for lighter stuff, perhaps doing inlays etc. You can get routers with both types of collet. I've got a Trend T9 which is pretty damn big - in its element doing kitchen worktop or letterbox template jobs. Problem is that when you've only got a hammer in your toolkit every problem looks like a nail..... ;) Andrew |
Title: Re: NEW ROUTER Post by Dewy on Jun 2nd, 2004, 5:19pm I've seen Silverline mentioned before. Apparently they are tool wholesalers and a number of shops sell them. The shops profit has to be added to the price on their website. :( |
