Just a quick question,

I am currently converting a study into a utility room and would like to know if you can run a washing machine from a cold or hot only feed? Both are nearby but would be easier just to run one. Also are their any regs governing where tumble driers can be vented to?

I believe some washing machines can be run from a single feed (and indeed are supposed to be run from a single feed!). But most require 2 feeds.

Depends on the washing machine. If you are having to create 1 feed then there's relatively little work to create 2.

As for regs governing where tumble driers vent to, what do you have in mind?

If you are thinking of venting into the roof space then forgot it - it will cause dampness and early roof failure.

Venting to the outside is the only reasonable thing to do.

Lots of machines can have cold fill only, check MI instructions, you can buy a Y peice from most places to join the hot and cold flexs together before connecting to the cold supply.

I have the choice of venting to the front of the house or to the side but a bit more involved.

If the machine has two connections both must be connected.

As PVC man said you can buy a Y fitting to connect the cold to both pipes if no hot is available.
