Hey Supra

I wouldnt suggest having a Robin all-in one, safer bet to go with Robin single intruments, or go with somthing popular like the megger, or new Fluke Series.

I thought Robin and Fluke were the same company nowadays??

Anyway, I don't know much about the 1620 but I've heard that the 1652 and 1653 are very good.

I know that you're 'safer' having multiple tools in case any of them fail but it seems very convenient to have it all in one tool.

Well Robin and Fluke are one now yes, but they now have brand new testers out with large digital displays and better features it would seem.

You should take a look at there websites before you make any decisions on one.

The 1620 is no longer made.

It didn't comply for some reason (test currents, test time limit etc).

1652 is a great bit of kit, but the loop reading takes a while to do - but it NEVER has yet tripped an RCD on me.

The 1652 is the new one which is shaped like binoculars?

Yea, odd shape, but great bit of kit.  Its actually comfortable to wear, and the screen always faces up.

Loads of extra features, like one man rcd test, rcd ramp test etc.

more expensive, has phase rotation and is downloadable.

For the extra cost, it didn't seem worth it.

I see leccy, thanks for that info, never had time to look at them, they look smart units tho, much like the Megger.

Good one Supra, don't be embarresed to question them on it, after all they are only intrested in the money, and you need test kit your gonna be happy with and use.

For info, Supra, Fluke also now do a model 1651, which they are calling a Part P tester (cabbages!). It's priced at around £500-plus-you-know-what and should do all you need for 7671 tests.

The 1651 is the same as the 1652 except it doesn't have the RCD tester or probe.  The 1652 I can get for £554 + vat, the 1651 lists at £499 + vat.

I reckon for the extra £55 I'll get the 1652.

However, it's still £500+ I'd rather spend on something else  :'(

Don't forget to get it calibrated - They don't ship 'em pre-calibrated unless you pay for it at about £60 + dreaded.

Well I didn't know that!  What's the point of selling you an uncalibrated test tool!!

Another £60 gone..................................   >:(

Well obviously

It's unlikely these instruments go out of calibration that much, however who knows for sure, and of course depends what treatment they get or if there analouge meters.
