Title: Grout marks ???
Post by coggy on Nov 8th, 2004, 6:21pm

Just a quick question.  Im fitting a laminate floor for a customer and she asked me if i knew what would clean off the white dust looking marks on her tiles where her husband has rubbed the grout in and it's left marks on the tiles  ??? ???

She said she has wiped them loads of times but they still keep coming back, i dont have a clue about tileing so said i would post it on here tonight ??

Thanks
Coggy

If you mean the grout haze after grouting then it just needs buffing with a dry cloth.

If the tiles are porcelain or stone then you need a grout residue remover, from tile supplier.

If the grout is really well stuck on the tile and the tile is a stone then the tile should have been sealed before grouting.

Thats all I can give you i'm affraid. Hope this  helps

all i can think is the grout is still on the tiles and she is not wipeing it of try a nylon scourer [you know the  sort somtimes on a foam pad]try scouring a discreet tile and leave to dry and see if there is still a white film
also it could possibly be a cleaner or solution she is using[ask her to show you how she normaly cleans the tiles ::) ::)

good luck

If they go to Topps tiles they sell an acid wash which will remove most grout especially if used with the particularly abrasive scouring pads they sell. Pretty nasty stuff though, it will mark anything it splashes on.
