Title: Re: It's true , what Norm says..... Post by jasonB on Dec 3rd, 2004, 6:53pm That's because some of us have to buy them, we don't all have manufacturers giving us them to "review" Actually they are a good buy, copies of the American jorgenson clamps, £2.97 each for the 12". I like these ones as they have a ratchet system that allows for almost one handed operation, made by City Tools, Rutlands do a similar one by Dakota. Jason |

What's the betting that it would get 'lost in the post' on its return if you were sent a Karl Holtey plane to review? ;D |
Title: Re: It's true , what Norm says..... Post by big_all on Dec 4th, 2004, 1:07am the trouble as you know is the weight of the iron work i was gluing together three boards for the side of a heavy duty bookshelve 12" wide 7-6" tall bickie grooved ::)6 bar clamps14 g\mastic clamps could hardly lift it ;D ;D ;D ;) |
Title: Re: It's true , what Norm says..... Post by Dewy on Dec 4th, 2004, 4:06am I bought some of those QuickGrip clamps when they 1st came out then went to a local steel stockholders and bought 20' of steel bar to fit them. Now I can change the length in a few secods. The early ones were only 1/2" x 3/16" bar but the new ones use 3/4" bar so will have to get some more steel. |
Title: Re: It's true , what Norm says..... Post by big_all on Dec 4th, 2004, 5:57pm as you know thats the best way dont buy the highly polished expensive bar [unless it sells zoider and ooozzzooo] ;D ;D ;D ;) |
Title: Re: It's true , what Norm says..... Post by Dewy on Dec 5th, 2004, 12:33am The quick grip clamps have a full radius on the bar so I spent hours trying to match it on the normal bar I bought. I used a foam drum sander in a pillar drill with a zirconium belt on it. It still took ages to get right but that zirconium grinds steel as if it were butter. |
