Hi all

Just stumbled across this forum, so nice to see the same old S/F lot on here. ;D

I just wanted to know if anybody has had any experience of the new EAL VRQ Part P course?

Is it any good?
Where is it available?
how much did you pay?

This is like the ~~sparky~~ trade sanctuary away from SF ;)

Do you mean the EAL Level 2 Domestic Installer course thingy?

If so can't help much, It's enough to do all domestic work I think, There's an even shorter one coming just for really minor works for people like kitchen fitters etc.

If you have a certificate from city & guilds why should you have to pay again, to get a qualification you already have. For those who have found out like me your qualifications are more than three years old, and some might say need updating, I can just do the 2391 exam at a cost of around £30.00 rather than do the whole course at £495.00 + £30.00.

I already have the 2391 and I got it in 1998, I passed my driving test in 1974 but I can still drive till 2026, funny that aint it.To those trying to get qualifications always go for the City & Guilds ones, companys always like them and not the NVQ ones so much.

I can just do the 2391 exam at a cost of around £30.00

The C&G2391 has 2 assessment components:

A closed book written exam - cost £25 - £30
A practical test - cost £75 - £100

Preparation to sit these can be achieved through attendance on a course offered by both public and private organisations. Expect to pay between £200 and £500 for the course.

You can of course, just sit the exam and practical test without attending a course, but first you will have to find a C&G centre which offers this.

Entry requirements to 2391 courses normally ask for familiarity/knowledge of BS7671 or C&G2381.
