Title: Noisy valve Post by Geddy on Dec 21st, 2004, 10:23am I have a problem with a noisy float valve in our high level cistern. The cistern fills very quickly and efficiently but as it shuts off there is severe vibration noise coming from the float valve. I know we live in a high pressure area (5 bar) so turned down the isolating value but the problem persists. Should I turn down the internal stop cock or is there another remedy?. I don't really want the performance of the shower and other fittings to suffer. |
Title: Re: Noisy valve Post by billythekid on Dec 21st, 2004, 5:10pm has it always done that or has it recently happened? If recent try changing the float valve washer, if always may need pipes clipping somewhere. normally water hammer/noisy valves are due to wear on the washers although bad installation can also be a factor. |
Title: Re: Noisy valve Post by Geddy on Dec 21st, 2004, 5:12pm Thanks The installation is new so it sounds like additional clipping is required |
Title: Re: Noisy valve Post by Plumber on Dec 21st, 2004, 9:18pm Try fitting an equalibrium ballvalve |
