When I fit Bathroom extractors they usually come with the 3 flaps and a square grid style vent, I chuck away the flaps and put in the grid!!

You can probably get the vents from Diy shed

It is meant to stop the wind blowing back into the duct, you can usually click the flaps out, give it a try without and see if there is any backdraught.

I went to B&Q and bought some Marley vents..they were absolutely crap the thinnest plastic known to man but they were all pre packaged so only found out when I got home; a 100mile round trip >:(

I had to fit a vent in a very exposed location and the customer didn't want a grill as they didn't want a permanent draught. So I fitted a cowl to the outside and an in-line back draught shutter, the type with a round plate inside where it is pivoted slightly off centre. The harder the wind blows the tighter it stays shut.
