Title: Radiator dripping
Post by woodsmith on Mar 25th, 2005, 9:29pm

I fitted a stainless steel towel rail several months ago, last week it started to drip where the valve adator screws into the radiator.

I have tightened it up but it is still dripping. This adaptor came ready made with PTFE coating.

I have found a lot of radiators leak from this joint, is there anything better than PTFE tape to seal the joint and how tight should it be tightened?

Thanks for any help

Keith

loctite 55 string.

Wind it round round about a dozen times and screw it in

I always re-wrap valves that come ready wrapped and depending on the make of radiator i sometimes smear some joint compound over the PTFE.
