Title: Saniplus unit
Post by roadblock on Apr 12th, 2005, 5:02pm

Can anyone advise me on what type of connector I can use to connect a 22mm copper pipe to a cast iron soil stack? I thought I was just looking at some sort of collar and thought my main worry was cutting the pipe. Now having visited a local Plumbase and Plumb centre I think changing the soil stack to plastic is going to be the only option. Although it does occur to me that perhaps Plumb xxxx know nowt about nowt unless we're talking plastic!! Any help much appreciated.

TimeSaver do various connections for cast iron.
Another option may be a 22mm-1"BSP connector to 1"BSPFem-32mmPVC reducer, there are plenty of 32mm adapters out there for cast.

If I get the chance I'll try to look up some links for ya. If you are gonna be cutting into the soil stack for a branch it might be worth looking at replaceing in PVC.

I know what you mean about PlumbLine etc not really catering for cast. I use my local merchant now as he is wayyy cheaper than Plumb Center  and the rest and can get anything i am looking for, especially for my cast stuff. And he never tries to offer suggestions for using alternatives, if I wanted an alternative I'd ask for it. Bloody plumb center are just jumped up checkout operators, time they realised it.

What is the 22mm copper coming from, it is unusual to have a 22mm copper waste pipe.

There is a clue in the topic title :)

They can be plumbed in 22mm or 32mm waste, I usually do them in the later.

All the macerators I've ever had to fit were done with 22mm copper waste.

I always feel that as the waste is under pressure, copper should withstand this better.
