Title: RSJ Post by JohnD on Jul 31st, 2005, 10:40pm Huraah! The Building Control inspector was happy with my RSJ, so I now have to shim it with steel shims - he wasn't happy with slate, the old fashioned way - and cement it in. Two questions. Does anyone sell steel shims or do I have to make my own? I can if I have to. Secondly, do I use an ordinary 3:1 mix or something stronger? Thanks John D. |
Title: Re: RSJ Post by JerryD on Jul 31st, 2005, 11:27pm why not get some shims from your steel stockholder where you got the beam. Get the same footprint area as the beam currently has. 3:1 for 'mucking in' is fine. |
Title: Re: RSJ Post by JohnD on Aug 5th, 2005, 2:21pm Managed to find enough steel here in the end. RSJ now in and doing its stuff! JohnD |
