Hello

have recently moved into an older property and in the bedrooms there are cupboard alcoves. Would ideally like walls flush but am a non-DIY type. Should these be bricked/blocked up? How much should it cost? Do I need any permissions from Planning?

unusual to want to loose storage space!!!!

why not have a fitted wardrobe full hight from wall to wall with the alcove behind as the deepest part off the wardrobe

or if its a redundant chimney breast have it removed

if you brick up an area you need to leave ventilation to remove damp

Another suggestion would be to keep the space as fitted wardrobes, but use false doors onto the chimney breast to create the illusion of the entire wall being fitted wardrobes
