On a more serious note  ::)  there are many websites that explain all this, it's a big subject - setting out - it depends on so many factors.

Is this a wall or paving you're doing?

as regard whether it is for pathing or brickwork it will be a brick panel about 1200 x 1800

You could try setting it out on a sheet of ply first, this will help you with any cuts you have to do.Then all the cuts  will be ready before you start :)

you say a brick panel some 1200 x 1800, i take it that it will be within a "normal brick wall", or on abrick wall with a pier each end!?? yes /no??
