Title: Re-grouting? Post by jimcam on Jun 29th, 2006, 7:29am Hi, My mum's shower cubicle has a leak and the plumber who fitted it reckons that the water's coming through the tiling rather than from the plumbing. Would regrouting and re-siliconing be enough to stop this, do you reckon? If so, is it best to hack out the old grout and sealant before reapplying? Or should the whole thing be retiled? |
Title: Re: Re-grouting? Post by jasonB on Jun 29th, 2006, 7:57am regrouting never does the job as well, theres always dust etc in the gaps so the new grout does not bond to the tiles. Best to strip it off and start again but apply tanking to the wall before tiling, this will stop any water that finds its way through the grout going any further. Jason |
