Title: The Forum & Internet Explorer 7
Post by Lectrician on Jan 2nd, 2007, 8:29pm

If you upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 you may experience an auto warning pop-up when posting in the forum.

You will be warned "Do you want this web page to access your clipboard?"

This issue will be fixed shortly - it doesn't effect the way forum works or behaves, and you can post like normal - just click the YES button when prompted.  You will be asked everytime you post.

This bug has come about due to an added security feature in IE7 which warns when information is copied to the clipboard.  With IE explorer 6 this warning was turned OFF as default, but with IE7 it is ON as default.

The forum will automatically paste the form information to your clipboard when you click "POST".  It does this so that if there is ever an error during posting, the post you have made is available from your clipboard (a feature I bet you never knew existed!).

Please be assured that there is no security risk at all when this pop-up occurs, and it will be addressed shortly.

I always click NO or use the other computer (Mozilla Firefox)

For the record I'm seriously considering uninstalling the upgrade.

I am back on IE6 again - too much to get used to for now!

It's still a little buggy, so will wait.

Sruff - Clicking yes is not a security issue - the forum writes to the clipboard, and doesn't grab info.  Clicking no will not effect the operation either - unless there is an error, and then you can't paste it!

what a horrible misfeature! My clipboard is mine and it should always be up to me to decide when i want to overwrite the data that is stored on it.

IE7 is right to warn users the forum is doing something it shouldn't and i wonder why firefox is doing the same.

If using IE7, the message is now not auto copied to the clipboard.  There is an option at the bottom of the post screen "Enable Auto-Copy" which you can tick if you have done a huge post and don't want to risk loosing it!

So you are deleting whatever I happen to be storing in my clipboard without my consent?! I consider that terrible behaviour!
