Hi Folks
Any ideas on how to quickly remove old tile adhesive?

Presently replacing the kitchen & have removed old units & old wall tiles. I'm left with quite a bit of old adhesive on the wall - probably too much to just tile over. It will come away if I chip at it with a bolster leaving the wall plaster in good shape. Problem is, its taking an age.

I've heard a heat gun can work well?
Someone also suggested using hot water to soften the adhesive?
I'm also considering applying a skimcoat on top of existing adhesive to get a level surface to apply new tiles.

Anyone got experience with ant of these approaches?

If it was a readymixed adhesive then heat/water works well try a wallpaper stripper and a decent scraper like
this

Wallpaper strippers are very good for getting adhesive off, but move it around a lot, dont leave it on the one spot too long, as can blow the plaster underneath, if hear a pop, then its blown.

The long handle stripper is good for getting wallpaper off, just be careful you dont get the blade wet as will blunt it very quick.
