SS, time to 'name and shame'  ;)

Trouble is there are only 20 or 30 regular posters who might be the only ones likely to chip in  :(

to be honest i though you would probably get around 100 people averaging £2
then another 20 averaging about £10  so around £400 in total now not knowing the cost  concerned i decided to go slightly above £10 average  at a very moddest£15 and at that rate thats only 14 that have chipped in a miserly £15
and i suspect around half will have been contributed by about 3 generous people

I have used paypal previously with my credit card but my details have expired  when the card was renewed. but I have just been told of  a friends card being stung for over 8 grand via paypal ( i am not sure yet of details) but would rather send a cheque than take the risk. if you pm me maybe I could send cheque to you and you send it to ATT via paypal???????????????

I keep a credit card with only a £1200 limit on it just for use with pay pal, Amazon etc.  I't not going to be the end of the world if I get turned over.
Painful, yes, but not the end of the world.

"iF" it has been zapped by unscrupulous  Bum holes (being polite) and they (your friend) used paypal, they are responsible for it and will recover it!!!

a Main contracter i do some work for got caught for £350 , but after the complaints procedure kicked in he got re-imbursed!!!

thats why it is "insured money when using paypal and the like!!!

The contributions so far?

SHAMEFUL, anyone with a posting count over 100 who has contributed zero should hang their head in shame  :'(

Come on you guys and gals, we ARE a sort of village ya know and village life is dying.

Or would you rather give it to Mr. Brown and Mr. Bliar - tell em to stuff their tax for one week and give it to ATT  ;)

I'm quite prepared to lob a few quid in, but not via paypal.
A cheque to a postal address is fine by me............

TT

Kwan what ya mean TT.

In fact I recall YEARS ago now having a right old ding-dong on this forum about just how insecure the web is when it comes to xferring loot. I was shot down at the timem by people here (now members long gone) telling me how wrong I was, I even explained the methods used in - securing data to xfer data over the net, polynomials etc. nd I was laughed out of court.

All I can say is "They all laughed when I sat down to play the piano but their laughter turned to amazement when I started to play". OK chaps and chapesses who said that well know saying? It's quiz night at the ATT form!!

The problem with PayPal is that they set-up what is in effect a direct debit arrangement with your bank - in reality they retain your credit card details, including the card issue number and the security code on the back (which I am told they are not supposed to do). That allows them to take money any time they like. And as far as I ama aware is a flagrant breach of the Banking Code which requires European registered banks to specifically request the security code for every transaction. But then as PayPal aren't registered as a bank and don't officially exist as a registered, authorised, regulated body in the UK they seem to think they are above the law. My own bank is one of those pressing for PayPal to be forcibly registered and brought into line - which would make them accountable to the authorities as there is major concern about the amount of fraud and money laundering going on via PayPal.

I was unaware of this thread. Like to tell me wher to send a contribution via Snail Mail?
