Title: This forum's dead........
Post by The_Trician on Oct 6th, 2007, 12:50am

WTF has happened over the last 12 months or so?

Next to no new posts, previous members disappeared completely.

Perhaps SS ought to close it down and save himself some cash?

Views folks?

Where would we go for decent sensible advice if this weren’t here?

I don’t want to end up asking questions on the Screw fix Muppet show >:(

I know it’s a bit quiet but Im just starting another little project and Im sure there’s going to be some silly questions coming soon  :-/

We are up with a years hosting at the moment - so no chance of it vanishing for 12 months anyway!

Even then, I see no point in letting it go - It will work around again and become busier........we just need our regulars to remain with it and keep supporting the forum ;)

It really is not a money issue - The forum will remain here while there is regular traffic.

Currently, we have many members viewing the forum, but not many posting.

Badger - Have you not found the extended smilies [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif] [smiley=vomit.gif]   [smiley=wacky.gif] [smiley=whisper.gif] [smiley=thumbsup.gif] [smiley=headbang.gif] [smiley=jumping.gif] [smiley=fiery.gif] [smiley=drink2.gif] [smiley=confused.gif]

Lec, can something be done to modernise the page logo?  It is dated and depressing.

Also, how does anyone find us from a general Google search (assuming they don't know of ATT in the first place).  Just searching for 'building advice' or similar does not find us.  In fact, how does anyone new find us?  :-/

You would be supprised how many visitors come from google searches.  The forum logs all referals, and the majority are from google.....let me grab some examples.....

As for the pic, I am not much of a graphics wizz.  The top pic is just some images bodged together.

If anyone is into logo design, I think we would all be happy to see what you offer!  I believe there are some sites that offer free design to give some apprentices some experience..........maybe I will take a google.

The below post shows the latest referals - 1000 minutes worth.  The number in the bracket is the amount of referals.

If you click the links to the likes of google etc, you will the search words type in by the searcher in the google search box.

the difficult to answer question is what portion of those hits are just flybys and what portion actually stay. My guess is that most just google for a problem and hit some post on here from some time ago.

Yup, this is true, but it does atleast show that we are being indexed.  When the forum was down all the time, the search engines start to 'derank' you and remove dead links, atlease we still pop up on the search engines.
