Title: Tiling over damaged plasterboard Post by jimcam on Dec 6th, 2007, 3:45pm I've got to tile over a plasterboard bathroom wall which has been damaged when the previous tiles were removed. I was thinking of using bonding plaster but I don't have a lot of time to wait for it to go off completely before I have to get on with the tiling. How about flattening up the damaged areas with tile adhesive, waiting for it to go off and then applying a new bed of adhesive to stick the new tiles on? |
Title: Re: Tiling over damaged plasterboard Post by jasonB on Dec 6th, 2007, 7:29pm Cut out the damaged area and screw on a new bit of board, tile straight away. I generally replace all plasterboard when retiling, all the hammering to get the tiles off loosens the nails or damages the boards, its quicker to rip off the board complete with tiles still attatched.
