Title: cutting kitchen worktops
Post by robb6879 on Oct 9th, 2008, 8:01pm

evening all.

i need to cut a standard wood chip work top. whats the best tool to use (i've tried jigs but not a good finish). also, i need to match in with an existing cut for a corner (its a straight corner but has a small curve to the end - approx 1" from the front edge). i'm really sorry that this is vague but it's quite hard to describe.

your thoughts please!

many thanks in advance

You will need to use a router with jig.

How sharp was the cutter the last time you used a jig, you need to allow one cutter per joint (two cuts) if its any blumter you will get a pore joint.

I have always used a circular saw cutting from the reverse side for edges that are against walls etc.

For corners and edges that need the matching trims, I always get a friendly carpenter with his router and jig to do the job for me!
