Title: Wood trim for wood windows
Post by ctowngary on Nov 4th, 2009, 7:47pm

I am thinking about building some custom windows (old style with individual panes), probably out of wood, but I know I can't shape all of the trim.  Can anyone recommend a supplier of standard (pre-formed) trim for this project?

If I have to go with aluminum or vinyl, what about a supplier?

Errr, define "trim", "windows" (especially the "individual panes" bit), and "custom windows", and you might get the answer you want, although as you're looking to buy this "trim" I suspect you don't have the skills to accomplish your stated aim.

I'd get a upvc window fitter in to look at what you want. Or go to somewhere like 'Window Fitter's Mate' who will talk you through what you want, supply the windows and recommend a good local fitter.

What are they for?  House? shed? play house?

By trim do you mean some form of beading you can stick on to simulate glazing bars/divided lights?

I know here in the U.S. there is companies that sell munton bits to make up true divided sashs, would be a lot of work and I personally wouldn't bother unless you are trying to keep a original look or just really need a craft project,my friend made some up years past, will ask next time I see him and will update if he has bit information.
