Title: emusion paint on wood floors Post by paintbrush57 on Jul 15th, 2010, 11:21am rather stupidly i used emulsion paint on wood floor in bathroom. furthermore i didn't prime it. i love the colour but local diy shop says i should sand away and start again with gloss. i have parkinson's so i can't slip on shiny floors. any suggestions as to remedy or start again (which I'd rather not do - but willing to be advised) by the way bathroom low on traffic only me and downstairs loo used by visitors. paintbrush 57 >:( |
Title: Re: emusion paint on wood floors Post by sparxxxx on Jul 15th, 2010, 4:58pm Emulsion paint can be removed with hot soapy wateer and a scrubbing brush, but you'll probably be left with a stain. Why not fit a carpet, covers up the emeulsion and it's non slip. |
Title: Re: emusion paint on wood floors Post by CWatters on Jul 16th, 2010, 8:22am If the floor is stable perhaps go with a vinyl floor? You can get some that have a bit of a texture and look like tiles or wood flooring. |
Title: Re: emusion paint on wood floors Post by woodsmith on Jul 16th, 2010, 7:44pm Do you like the look of the floor? If so you could try giving it a rub over with sandpaper and then give it a coat of water based matt floor varnish. Before doing the whole floor I would try a small area first to make sure it will adhere to the emulsion. I have varnished on top of emulsion with no problems, but not on floors though! |
