Title: BT Versatility Cold Reset w/o password
Post by Ds Websites on Jun 27th, 2011, 4:50pm

Hi all, cant believe I've only just found this forum. Hopefully I'll be able to put back some knowledge with programming in return for some telephone help!

I've got a BT Versatility system that was from an old office here, The system password has been changed and I cannot get into it.

I've got the software up and running and loaded a backup of the system but that shows the password to be '1111' (it is not).

Can anyone help on how to cold reset (factory reset) this unit so I can start programming it.

OR

The wiring diagram for the RS232 to RJ11 lead. £25-30 is just to steep for something I can solder up in the shed.

Thanks

Dan

I can help you to default the system with ease, but always ask for a token sum for the info as it is a complete back door way into the system which is little known.  Private Message me for details.

Are you accessing programming for the programming extension?  Usually 20, but can be moved to any extension.

The serial lead used an RJ11 'handset cord' type plug (4P4C, a standard RJ11 being 6P4C).  It has no components.

Pinouts:

RJ11    DB9
Pin 1    Pin 5 (Common)
Pin 2    Not Connected
Pin 3    Pin 3 (TX Data)
Pin 4    Pin 2 (RX Data )

Hi Lectrician
I need to do some programming on a versatility phone system. The office I'm doing it for has lost their programming key .I know i can do a warm reset using the button in the unit .Will this reset all settings .the changes i want to make are only where incoming lines ring. So i don't really want to loose any other programming .You mention a back door into the system i'm interested in this and would be willing to pay a nominal donation if it would work for the above .
Kind regards
Andy

If you have the PC software, just use that - You don't need any programming PIN then.  You can even use that to reset the programming position and PIN.

BT would usually leave the programming lead inside the main CCU, and a CD too.

Have you got the programming lead?  Have you plugged it into the small connector under the top hood?  Into a serial port on your PC/laptop?

Then run the software, select all the com ports until you get "communications established" in the bottom left bar.  Then "get and save all" or "recieve and save all" or what ever it is called.  Save that file, email it to me.
