Title: Adding a new PIR to Veritas R8 alarm system
Post by jwhataylor on Jun 21st, 2012, 4:55pm

Hi,

I have a Veritas R8 alarm system and I want to add another PIR.

The guy who installed the system fitted it to the ceiling and left enough wire in the loft whilst we had building work done. Now the building is complete I want to activate this PIR. I'm pretty sure it is wired in the main control box (need to check this), so to wire it in I would just copy one of the other sensors (pretty easy). BUT, my main issue is programming it so that the system knows it's there and it's zone type. Do the system automatically 'see' it or do I have to tell it it is there? Can anyone run me through the procedure to activate this and how to set the zone type please?

Thanks in advance.

Jeff

Have you verified it is connected?

The panels top end zones (not 1 and 2) are factory programmed for default 'GUARD'.  You probably wont need to change this unless the detector is part of an entry route, or can be seen from one.  Disused zones are usually linked out in the panel with a tiny loop of wire to prevent activations.
